Blog Roll

Journalling Circles

Does anyone remember blog rolling or journal circles? I tried to google Singaporean blogs, all I got was money making advertorials. Since this wave of monetising blogs, instagram and other social media and of course the wilting attention span, the blogosphere has become quite colourless. Through wordpress I searched for a number of local terms and found blogs of the old days – before everyone was obsessed with making money over every tiny thing they write or record.

Be Hopeful by Ashley Lim   https://ashleylim2014.wordpress.com She is a very introspective Christian blogger. I admire her dedicated practice. I am a Buddhist and only occasionally I make effort to incorporate religion in my life. (Typically 报佛脚 when things don’t go well.)

Charlie Bean’s 1 min Journal by Charlie Bean https://charliebean110.wordpress.com Lovely ordinary person writing about his/her day. I am worried about saying ordinary because everyone appears to want to be extraordinary but it is so nice to read really ordinary things about a day in the life of another person that has pictures of where he/she goes.

Helluva Times https://helluvatimesblog.wordpress.com Is a Singaporean based photographer who does a lot of flowers. It is quite impressive this dedication to just take a camera long. A long time ago I tried a 365 project to take a picture everyday. It was so hard – after a while I can’t figure out what is interesting to capture since I only go to work and return home. This photographer also edits his/her pictures and makes everything moody and dramatic.
