I wonder if it is the cosmopolitain nature due to the trading route that makes it seem very European and attractive to foreigners. There are so many other beautiful places in China but this area receives way more interest and love from Caucasians. For me, it is what I imagine a charming countryside in Italy or France to be. Full of people sitting outdoors, walking, eating delicious foods and being very chill.
